I remember playing Myst on our Mac Classic II in black and white, with the help of a CD drive the size of a carton of cigarettes, when I was little. I remember playing Riven later in color when it came out and not doing much more than wandering and poking the things. It wasn't until middle school or sometime in my teens when I met someone who had unlocked Riven to its fullest potential and let me in on things. What good games Cyan Worlds produces.

After a short stint of allowing Myst 3 and 4 to be produced to lackluster ends by Ubisoft, while they toiled away on their magnificently conceptualized significantly undermarketed MMO game URU:Ages of Myst, Cyan is finally back! They've made it just in time too as this, the fifth Myst game, is set to be the end of the series. Click the pic for a link to grab the demo on download. My favorite magazine of all time was a little video game review and industry speculation based periodical called NextGen. After several years of success their larger distributor or publisher or something went under and they got swept away as well. Turns out some bit of it has survived in the game industy news site of the same name. Click the Pic.

News like this makes me feel like we'll be living in a cyberpunk future sooner than anyone thinks. I can't wait.
